From start to finish, we communicate clearly, respect your space, and deliver exceptional results that speak for themselves. Because we stand behind our work, every project is backed by our 1-year guarantee, ensuring that your home continues to look its best long after the final brushstroke.

Our Story — Built on the Right Way of Doing Things

Dan Gogh Paint Co. was founded in 2016 with a simple but powerful mission: provide professional-quality painting services on Hawaii's Big Island without compromising on materials, preparation, or workmanship. In a local market where shortcuts are common and disappearing contractors are an all-too-familiar frustration, we set out to be the alternative that homeowners could actually rely on.
In the years since, we've grown through word of mouth — a direct reflection of the work itself. Our clients don't just hire us once. They hire us again when their next project comes up, and they send their neighbours our way when they need a painter they can trust. That kind of loyalty doesn't come from advertising. It comes from delivering what you promise, every time.
We've worked on everything from modest Hilo starter homes to large upcountry properties in Waimea, oceanfront residences on the Hamakua Coast, new construction in Puna, and commercial properties in Kona. Each project has taught us something about painting in Hawaii's unique and demanding environment — and that accumulated knowledge makes every job we take on today better than the ones before it.

Our Team — Skilled, Experienced, Local

Dan Gogh Paint Co. is led by Danny Faiella, a painting and restoration professional with over a decade of experience working on Hawaii's Big Island. Danny founded the company after recognising a consistent gap in the local market: homeowners were routinely let down by painters who prioritised speed over quality, used inadequate products for Hawaii's climate, or simply failed to show up and complete what they'd been paid to start.

The Dan Gogh team is deliberately kept at a size that allows direct oversight of every project. We don't subcontract work or dispatch unsupervised crews to properties we've never visited. When you hire Dan Gogh Paint Co., the experienced professionals who assessed your project and provided your estimate are the same people doing the work.

Every member of our team is trained in Hawaii-specific painting and surface preparation techniques. We understand the difference between painting a Puna home exposed to volcanic fumes and a Kona property battered by salt-laden westerly winds. We know which products adhere properly in high-humidity environments and which primers are necessary for lasting adhesion on metal roofs. This isn't textbook knowledge — it's a decade of on-the-ground experience on the Big Island.

Hawaii's Climate — Why It Matters and Why We Take It Seriously

Painting in Hawaii is fundamentally different from painting on the mainland, and any painting contractor who doesn't acknowledge that is either inexperienced or not paying attention. Hawaii's Big Island presents a range of environmental conditions that can dramatically shorten the life of a paint job if not properly accounted for.

•    High humidity — Hawaii's year-round humidity, particularly on the east side and in Puna, means paint applied to inadequately prepared or primed surfaces will peel, bubble, or mould far sooner than expected
•    Salt air — Coastal properties on the Hamakua Coast, Hilo bayfront, and Kona shoreline face aggressive salt-air corrosion that demands marine-grade primers on metal surfaces and paints with superior adhesion on timber and concrete
•    UV intensity — At Hawaii's latitude, UV radiation is significantly more intense than most mainland locations, causing standard exterior paints to fade and chalk rapidly without UV-resistant formulations
•    Volcanic emissions — Properties in Puna and Volcano are exposed to vog and sulphuric gases that interact with paint coatings in ways that require specific product selection and preparation techniques
•    Temperature and rainfall variation — The Big Island's extraordinary climate diversity means conditions on the same property can vary dramatically depending on elevation and aspect

At Dan Gogh Paint Co., every one of these factors informs how we specify and execute each project. The result is a paint job that performs — not just in the first month, but year after year.
